How Helping Others Helps Us Too
Posted 2 days ago - Apr 29, 2025
From: MorganBad days, unfortunately, are a reality. I know that when I'm having a hard time, it's easy for me to declare (to anyone who is listening), "This day is THE WORST!" Then I sort of stew in the annoyances or difficulties and wait for my friends to give me sympathy. Instead of following my lead, it might be a good idea to try what Dr. Brady Smith, a dentist from Vancouver, Washington recently suggested.
To make a bad day feel better, Dr. Smith looks for another person who he can help.
When I make someone else's day great, it makes my setbacks and shortcomings, inadequacies and failures all seem smaller.
By actively helping others, not only does it make us feel better in the moment but it can also help us gather up stories to reflect about in the future.
Here, Dr. Smith shares one of the moments that he thinks about on his difficult days:
@drbradysmith I just have a lot of feelings right now.
