KSBJ OFFERS A BROADCASTING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS.

KSBJ offers a one-time tuition award and a two month, paid internship to encourage scholastic excellence for students pursuing a degree in the field leading to a career supporting broadcast radio.

This program is designed to assist the student with expenses associated with the pursuit of higher education and to encourage them in their interest in Christian radio communication as a professional career.

The KSBJ intern will have the opportunity to work with all departments ranging from Donor Relations to Special Events and Programming. In addition, the intern will come away with insight regarding how KSBJ works to accomplish its mission of sharing the Gospel through Christian music, ministry and education using broadcasting, events and mentoring.

This is a full time internship at the KSBJ facility located at 1722 Treble, Humble,TX 77338 during the months of June and July.

Qualifications: The qualified college applicant will:

  • Have completed 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited 4-year college or university; Graduate students may also apply. To receive the one-time tuition award, you must be enrolled as a full time student from an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher (on a 4-point scale)
  • Successfully submit all required components of the application package by the deadline of January 15, 2010.
  • Be pursuing a communication or broadcasting major planning a career in broadcast radio
  • Proof of enrollment as a full time student from an accredited 4-year college or university is required prior to awarding of scholarship. Application Package:
  • Complete application form
  • Resume, including extracurricular activities
  • Official college transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation, including one from the academic environment and one who can speak to the students Christian lifestyle or activities
  • An essay about how you can use your career to impact the world for Christ (not to exceed 1000 words)

KSBJ OFFERS A BROADCASTING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.

HIGH SCHOOL

KSBJ offers two $1000.00 high school scholarships which will be awarded to graduating Seniors from public high school, Christian high school, or a Christian home school.

The Broadcasting Scholarship encourages scholastic excellence for qualified students pursuing a degree in the field leading to broadcast radio.

This program is designed to assist the student with expenses associated with the pursuit of higher education and to encourage them in their interest in Christian radio communication as a professional career.

Qualifications:
The qualified high school applicant will:

  • Have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4 point scale)
  • Be a graduating full time Senior attending a high school in Harris, Brazoria, Montgomery, Ft. Bend, Victoria, Liberty, San Jacinto, Wharton, Washington, Walker, Polk, Matagorda, Jefferson, Hardin, Grimes, Brazos, Austin, Galveston or Waller counties in Texas.
  • Successfully submit all required components of the application package by the deadline of January 15, 2010.
  • Be pursuing a career in Christian broadcast radio
  • Proof of enrollment as a full time student from an accredited 4-year college or university is required prior to awarding scholarship.

Responsible for working a live, in-studio air shift between 4-6 hours in length either Saturday or Sunday. Qualifications include 1 year of on air experience, working knowledge of Scott Studios SS32, VoxPro, and Adobe Audition preferred. Please send a resume and demo (3meg max).
