Trouble Streaming?
Are you ready to throw that "New KSBJ Player" out the window?
We created the new player, to add compatibility with more browser versions, and more computer platforms. However, the side effect is it broke compatibility for some people that before, could listen just fine.
So we've put together a list of your frequently asked questions, and our frequently given answers, to try to get you back to listening, as soon as possible.
Don't want to read the help article, and just want to try a different player?
So the #1 question: The player windows opens, but I can't hear anything. What am I doing wrong?
There are a number of reasons why this could happen, but let's cover the obvious.
- Are your speakers on, and the volume turned up? I know this may feel a bit insulting, but you'd be suprised at how many calls we get where this was the problem.
Ok, now for the more technical answers...
Adobe and Java, put out new updates all the time, and these two plugins run lots of things behind the scenes on your internet browser; so it never hurts to make sure you have the latest version. Still not working...
- Does your office block streaming media? You can check with your IT department to find out.
It worked before?
- Maybe your computer doesn't support streaming in Flash / MP3 - We have a Windows Media version of the player the may help - You can find it here
#2: My browser says "Page opened with errors?" OR An error message pops up about "Problems with the webpage...?"
The two most likely reasons are:
- You're using Internet Explorer 6 - Microsoft is currently distributing Internet Explorer 8 (Available Here) So you may want to update the latest version. For support on Internet Explorer 6 issues - Click Here
- You may need to download the most current version of JAVA - You can find it here
#3: The iPhone App says "Listen live to KSBJ" in the description, but when I download the app, there's no button to listen.
Apple just approved the App update, with the "Listen to KSBJ" button.
- If you downloaded the App, and it didn't work, just go to the App Store, and download the latest update.
#4: I have a Google G1 phone. Can I listen on my phone?
We're testing different solutions, to find a way to make this work.
